UltraPrint RIP Software is a powerful, simple and affordable desktop application for Windows to CREATE RIPs in the industry standard PDF files. UltraPrint is used to convert PCL or Postscript print jobs into PDF or TIFF spool-ready files which are then sent to the printer. It offers intelligent formatting of text, graphics, line drawing images and halftones so they will be printed correctly on any type of printer. The software also has special features that allow you to crop images based on registration marks printed at the time of print which will result in an easier job when combining multiple pages onto one sheet. UltraPrint includes a variety of features including: *Create and edit placement data for each page so you can place the image exactly as you want it on the print job *Coordinate custom RIP settings with your printer settings. *Intelligent optimization of RIP files to produce high quality, optimized PDF files. *Crop images for printing by specifying registration marks which are automatically applied at the time of print. UltraPrint also has a feature called "Image Correction" which allows you to remove or correct any type of printing problems by checking individual pages at the time they are printed to make sure that they are laid out correctly. If any page is out of order, UltraPrint will not print that page until it is corrected. The Image Correction feature also allows you to add borders and margins to all the pages. Version 1.0 of UltraPrint was released in January 2002 and was primarily used for creating PDF files from the RIPs of the VersaWorks RIP software by Mimaki. In 2003, UltraPrint added support for Hewlett-Packard PCL and in 2004, Mimaki released a new version of their RIP software and they recommended their users use version 2.2 of UltraPrint to create the PDF files. This is when UltraPrint became a freeware application instead of a licensed application which required users to buy a license in order to use it. Version 6.0 of UltraPrint was released in 2009 which is the current version. Version 6.0 of UltraPrint has all new features including Page Snapshot Tool, Art-In-Ink, Scan to PDF and ArtRage. The ArtRage feature allows you to use any drawing program on your computer to create a PDF image that can then be printed by the software. There are two versions of UltraPrint that can be downloaded from Sourceforge - a freeware version for Windows XP and a commercial version for Windows 7 and Vista called UltraPrint Pro which is priced at US$29.90. UltraPrint was reviewed in the book “Software for Graphic Artists” by Aeysha Smith-Mann and Erik Mann. The software has been reviewed on the following websites: After Mimaki released a new version of their RIP software, which had more features than the previous version, customers who originally purchased Version 1.0 of UltraPrint were upset that they could no longer create PDF files with the new software and asked if they could get a free license for Version 2.2 and be able to use it with VersaWorks 2.2 as well as keep using Version 1.0 with VersaWorks 2. eccc085e13
